Deckboard – We carry deck board in 3 widths (4, 5 and 6 inches) and 3 thicknesses
- (5/4 which planes to 1 inch, 6/4 which planes to 5/4 inch, and 2 inches which planes to 1 ½ inches).
- All are planed on all 4 sides, and the top two corners can have a radius (be rounded) if requested.
- There is also the option of combining different widths to create attractive patterns. eg 4/6 (where the 4 inch and 6 inch boards alternate), 4/5, 5/6, etc.
Fencing
We carry one inch thick fencing boards (planed to ¾ inch) in widths from 4 inches to 10 inches. We also have 5/4 inch boards which plane to 1 inch. The corners are not rounded unless requested. There are many possible fence designs, and we are happy to make suggestions.
Other Lumber
- We carry posts from 2 x 2 to 8 x 8. They can be left rough cut or planed on all 4 sides.
- We also have 2 x 4, 2 x 6, 2 x 8, 2 x 10 and 2 x 12.
- If you don’t see the size you are looking for, just ask. We will cut to your specifications if at all possible.
Balusters
To help make railing for decks, we sell balusters made from 2 x 2 lumber, planed down to 1.5" x 1.5" with all 4 corners squared or rounded. They can be cut to whatever length you need, and are sold by the foot. The most common lengths are 3 to 4 feet.
Tongue and Groove
We can supply tongue and groove boards with or without a V joint. The boards can be ¾ inch thick, 1 inch thick, 5/4 inch or 1½ inches thick (after planing).
Other Panelling
We also sell BOARD AND BATTEN, as well as CHANNEL RUSTIC. The channel rustic can be left unplaned, so the channel only is planed, or it can be entirely planed. The unplaned channel rustic has uses similar to that of board and batten, but the channel rustic looks better than board and batten (in our opinion!), costs less, and is easier to install. The entirely planed channel rustic makes a beautiful wall panelling or wainscotting.
Lumber Lengths
Available lengths are 4,6,8,10,12,14 and 16 feet. See the price list page for pricing. As noted elsewhere, it is difficult to get good quality long (or wide) white cedar boards, since white cedar trees are relatively short compared to pine or maple trees, etc. Also as the live trees get older, there is a tendency to develop centre rot. Accordingly, the price for longer boards is slightly higher than that for shorter boards.
